Already the hum of fall is entering the soundscape. The lighting is starting to change and today reminds me that I better take a few more swims in the lake before it becomes a distant memory. It’s a wonderful time of year around here as the farms burst with a widening variety of produce. We’re touching in with some of our friends gardens this week as well as our own to bring you fresh picked and sauteed greens, fresh picked green beans from nibble fingers and more sweet corn until it’s all gone. If you would like to pre-order your meal go to macromamas.com, click market store, click shop. We will have your order waiting for you when you arrive. You always have the option of coming to our “backdoor” pick up site if you don’t wish to enter the market. That way you can also skirt the entrance line. Our market meals are gluten free. If you have a special request email macromamas@gmail.com and let me know. I will email you back and confirm your request. Until then enjoy this gorgeous weather.

Another hot and steamy week. Having been born in the “dog days” of summer I have a certain affinity for the hot and steamy weather. This week’s menu will be light and refreshing. In addition to our menu we will be offing “Popular Choice” again. For those not familiar with this wonderful lunch item it is our small to-go container filled with half Peanut-Lime Noodles (wheat or rice - your choice) and our fresh local organic salad dressed with Lemon poppyseed dressing. We will package it up for you on the spot. It’s a wonderful picnic item to take away and enjoy elsewhere. Market does not permit eating on in the pavilion or on the grounds. Don’t forget your cutlery if you plan on heading over to the park or grabbing a quick nibble in your car. We are not permitted to provide you with any. Along with your cutlery bring your mask, shopping bags and something to protect you from the weather if you find you need to wait in line to enter the pavilion. We will also be offering Corn fritters. Cooked to order, please order at the front of the booth and pick up at the back of the booth as you leave market. Keep your masks on at all time, don’t be tempted to steal a nibble. Let’s keep our community safe and vibrant. If you would like to place an order on line we will have it ready for you when you come to the market. To place an order go to macromamas.com, click Market Store, click Shop. We do bring additional food for the spontaneous shoppers. Until then….

July

July 4th is typically one of the most attended markets of the year. Since covid the market has monitored how many people are permitted into the pavillion at a time. Presently it is 125-135 customers. So plenty of social distancing room to move about. There are 2 entrances monitored by staff and a line of customers waiting for admittance. Saturday looks like a warm sunny day. Bring a hat, sunscreen or whatever you need to protect yourself from the sun as you wait in line. If you have placed an order with us online we will hold it for you until the end of the day. Hours this week return to 9-3. If you have a hard time navigating our shopping site feel free to contact me at macromamas@gmail.com and place your order. I will confirm your order. If you have any special requests you can also contact me via my gmail. I will confirm your requests. To place an order on line go to macromamas.com. Click Market Store, click Shop.

If you have been out in the neighborhood or the hills you will notice a white flowering bush dotting the landscape. This is elderflower. The floral smell and flavor is subtle. We will be infusing all our creams and our lemonade with elderflower this week to help elevate our spirits and honor all that the natural world has to offer us.

Now that market is starting to pick up with the warmer weather we are going to establish 2 pre-paid pick up lines. One line will be at the back of the booth. If you just want to pick up the food that you ordered on-line and you don’t wish to do additional market shopping we will make it quick and easy for you. Just let market staff know that your doing a quick back of the booth pick up, should they ask, and assure them you will then be on your way. Also, you can pick up at the back of the booth if your done with your shopping and we are your last stop. The other pick up line will be at the front of the booth where we normally hang our Express Line sign. There will be 1 more person in the booth to help expedite on-line orders while we help other shoppers who have not pre-paid. If you have any requests of us regarding your on-line meal feel free to email us. I will respond and let you know if your request will be fulfilled. Starting July 4th we will be able to offer hot food. I’m thinking fritters. They will need to be packaged to go since eating on site will still be prohibited. The market is entertaining on site eating by July 18th. I will update with current information as I receive it. In the meantime if you want to guarantee a meal and a particular dessert by the time you make it down to market, pre-order. It’s easy. Go to macromamas.com, click market store, click shop and choose what you would like. That way there is no need to rush on a lazy saturday morning. Only thing you’ll need to keep in mind in the market closes at 1pm. Hours will extend till 3 starting in July. I will update. It’s a fluid time, stay afloat!!

On the eve of the solstice we step into the driest time of the year, summer We are certainly feeling the heat of the sun and praying for those evening showers that give our gardens that healthful soaking they crave. Roses are in full bloom and it’s floral essence will be dotting in and out of this weeks menu. Cooking will become a little lighter, produce will travel 1 mile down the road instead of across country from more temperate climates. As summer ripens into its fullness the rising potential energy of spring buds explode into realized maturity. Summer is symbolized by the radiant energy of fire. Bitter flavors from dryer weather support the heart and small intestine meridians as well as the heart governor and triple warmer. The small intestine acts as the furnace of alchemical transmutation, transforms our food into blood. It is here that chlorophyll evolves into hemoglobin. The heart, the radiant sun of the body, circulates the red blood throughout the system and with it, rays of warmth and love.

We will be back in our home booth #5 this week and for the foreseeable future. We have been taking many on-line orders at our market store which can be found at macromamas.com.

This week we will be offering cold beverages to take home. A nice lilac lemonade and our house brewed kombucha.
